Bahamians oppose introduction of new consumption tax

NASSAU, Bahamas (CMC) — The main Opposition Free National Movement (FNM) has questioned the Government’s ability to manage the 15 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) system, introduced on January 1. FNM deputy leader and shadow finance minister Peter Turnquest said the general public is also questioning the Administration’s ability to effectively manage this significant and important change to the country’s tax structure.
