Kool FM's Shelly-Ann Hill (right) is delighted to meet Janette Morgan (centre) a patient of the Heart Institute of the Caribbean (HIC) who did an electrocardiogram (ECG) at the HIC's second annual ECG Day on February 14, at its Balmoral Road head office. Kimberly Robb-Brown, sales and marketing executive at HIC, looks on at the greeting. The event, which was staged as part of the institute's Heart Month activities offered ECGs for $500 - down from the usual $2,500 - to the nearly 200 people who visited on the day. All the proceeds from the day will go to a fund which provides free cardiovascular treatment for people who cannot afford to pay. An ECG is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of a heart. The test translates the heart's electrical activity into line tracings on paper, represented by spikes and dips called waves.
