The Book Industry Association of Jamaica's Kingston Book Festival on Sunday got off to a fine start with the Department of Literatures in English at the University of the West Indies hosting of its signature annual March event, "Love Affair With Literature". For this year's staging the department brought together the veteran poet and Jamaica's Poet Laureate Mervyn Morris (right) and three young, rising stars of Caribbean literature: Tanya Shirley (second right), Roland Watson-Grant (left) and Sharon Millar (second left) from Trinidad. The event took place in a full Neville Hall N1 Lecture Theatre and saw lively readings and an engaged crowd. Here, the readers gathered post-event for a group snap with Dr Michael Bucknor, head of the Department of Literatures in English. The Kingston Book Festival 2015 continues this week and will feature dozens of readings, seminars, workshops and book launches across the city, culminating in the Kingston Book Fair at Devon House on Saturday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.
