VARICOSE veins are a very common problem. They can be unsightly and patients are often embarrassed by their appearance. These are veins that have become swollen with blood and are twisted and tangled in appearance. This lumpy swelling arises from poor venous function. The term commonly refers to the superficial veins in the legs, however, they can occur in other regions of the body.
