Pedro Capote, UPS Americas Region Caribbean country manager, and Rachel Matthews, UPS Jamaica country manager, seem intrigued by the information technology skills of one of the boys at St John Bosco Children's Home in Mandeville. The UPS Foundation recently made a US$30,000 donation to the Alpha Boys' School, which operates the home. The organisation is a vocational training facility that provides educational opportunities for young men in the areas of agriculture, greenhouse farming, meat processing, catering, among others. The UPS Foundation's grant will subsidise the St John Bosco Children's Home by improving the school's computer lab and lunch programme to provide nutritious meals to its students. "With this donation, we will be providing our students with 30 new computers designed to help them learn digital skills, such as basic graphic design, which will better prepare them to enter for the workforce," said Sister Susan Frazer. "Additionally, we will equip the lab with Internet access to enable students to do research and access important information and data for their trade training," she said.
