GENERALLY speaking, the quality of entrants into the legal profession in Jamaica is very high. This should not be surprising: largely for historical reasons, the legal profession has been a major avenue ---albeit a limited one -- for upward social and economic mobility throughout the postcolonial Commonwealth Caribbean.
