To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the reunification of Germany, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Jamaica Joachim Schmillen and his wife Maria Cecilia Toledo hosted a "Day of German Unity"-themed poolside soirée at their Jack's Hill residence last Wednesday. The formalities commenced with the singing of the national anthems of both Jamaica and Germany by the ambassador's wife Maria Cecilia Toledo. In his address, Ambassador Schmillen spoke highly of the hospitality and warm-hearted welcome he received during his travels islandwide. A sentiment echoed by Minister of Justice Mark Golding, who reiterated the binding ties of Jamaica and Germany.
