America and many people in the Caribbean and other parts of the world paused, if even briefly, last Monday to observe Martin Luther King Jr Day. It was a continuing recognition of the signal contribution he made to the civil rights struggle in the United States. His struggle, like that of Nelson Mandela in South Africa, is one that is owned and inspired by all people fighting against oppression.
