Thursday last brought the red carpet premiere of executive producer and director Fritzroy Smith’s Bonds of Promised Land, a Chinese-Jamaican story, at the Carib Cinema. The evening included a cocktail hour followed by words from the Chinese Ambassador to Jamaica Niu Qingbao, Chinese Benevolent Association former President Dalton Yap, and executive producer and director Fritzroy Smith. The gentlemen spoke of the importance of Chinese culture in Jamaica and the positive impact that the film could have within the larger community. The by-invitation-only premiere saw government officials, diplomats and entrepreneurs in attendance, and kicked off a slew of events hosted by the Chinese Benevolent Association.
