According to police reports, Mason lost control of the motorcycle he was travelling on about 4:20am and the vehicle ran off the road causing him to fall from it. He was pronounced dead at hospital. The athlete who represented Great Britain since 2006, and won silver for that country in high jump at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, is Jamaica's national record holder in the event.
