This man casually opens the cardboard 'door' to his makeshift sidewalk 'apartment' at the traffic lights just off Slipe Road in the vicinity of Torrington Bridge in Kingston. Ignored by the authorities and heedless of the steady flow of traffic through the busy intersection, the man has been steadily constructing his home — made of neatly tied flaps of cardboard, paper, styrofoam, plastic fabric and old mattresses — for several years.
