THE Government's hint at new tax measures this year has generated much debate among Jamaica Observer online readers. Finance Minister Dr Peter Phillips signalled the Administration's intent at a special post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House on MOnday while updating journalists on "prior actions" that needed to be settled before an agreement with the International Monetary Fund can be reached. He, however, did not go into details. The press briefing followed a three-day Cabinet retreat which ended on Saturday. Below are some comments from our online readers.
