Twenty-three year old Olympic bronze medalist Warren Weir accepts an award from Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller at the 2013 Prime Minister's Youth Awards at Emancipation Park last evening. Weir, who was part of Jamaica's now-famous 1-2-3 finish with Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake at last summer's Olympic Games in London, won the award for his contribution to the field of sport. Nineteen other young men and women between the ages of 15 and 24 years were awarded in the categories of academics, agriculture, arts & culture, entrepreneurship, international achievement, journalism, leadership, and youth-in-service.
