Joyce Lilieth Robinson spent most of her life in service to her fellow Jamaicans. In a multi-faceted career spanning many decades, she first spent years in the classroom as a teacher prior to her appointment to four important posts, in each of which she has been a pioneer, breaking new ground and opening up unforeseen possibilities: namely, as director of the Jamaica Library Service (JLS) from 1957-1973; Director of the Jamaican Movement for the Advancement of Literacy (JAMAL) from 1973 - 1981; as first female general manager of the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC), 1981 - 1982; and as executive director of the Human Employment and Resource Training Trust (HEART) from 1982 - 1991.
