He was among scores of people who showed up hoping to snag one of the bikes. Bids started as low as $50 in some cases and went up to $350,000 in others. The police said the bikes were seized for various reasons and had been at the station for an extended period of time. Efforts to contact the owners and have them recover the items were unfruitful, they said.
