Well not really the Sabbath but Sundays.
We spoke about the Sabbath at church together. It reminded me that my great grandparents and grandparents were very strict about Sundays. My grandmother flipped out when I went to the beach on Sunday. She was extremely angry and I even heard her praying about it and complaining to the Lord that night.
My parents never really spoke about it but I remember once as an adult I suggested a movie and another time I suggested a ball game and my Mom said, "When have you ever seen us participating in activities like that on Sunday?" I pointed out that we had never spoken about it and she said maybe not but they set the example.
She told me how strict it was when she lived with her grandparents.
So what about you? Do you keep Sundays (or the Sabbath) holy? Did your parents? Grandparents? Great grandparents?
Is it part of Jamaican culture?
I we losing something by not following the example our forbearers set for us?
