It was really a warm feeling when i saw bolt continue to run after Asafa and shouting encouragement to him. Quite a few commentators spoke on this too.
Makes me wonder if this was a deliberate 4x100 relay set up, yu know, for Asafa to run the last leg of the race and take the baton across the finishing line. Really, it was an Asafa moment!! IMO. If that was the case, then it was clearly an unselfish act and it shows they [coaches] believe in ALL their athletes; not just Bolt. It as a clever set up anyways..for Bolt to be second to the last runner...I am sure people expected him to be the last runner...

Bolt wanting Asafa to get his gold...
Asafa wanting Bolt to get another gold...
Both Asafa and Bolt wanting a world record for their country...

Actually Bolt wanted to start, but the coaches figured he was their best bet on the 3rd leg, going around the bend. If you remember the race, things were close up to that point, and JA pulled away on the second exchange when Bolt left the field behind. Asafa is good in a straight line, so it made sense for him to anchor. A good strategy tactically, but overall good teamwork as well.

As for Bolt running behind Asafa, the race was already won at the stage, but they not only wanted the WR, they wanted to run below the time they did. What stuck in my mind was that Bolt was clearly ahead of some of the other anchors for a good potion of the last 100 meters. He could have run both legs and we would have still won

That third leg strategy with the best runner was a common feature used at Boys' &amp; Girls' &quot;Champs&quot; as far back as I can remember. Good ploy.
