The Nigerians are coming.... I was chatting with a nigerian engineer the other day and made the comment that i was a fan of Okabari... He was surprised.. He was also surprised that I found VCB sexy....I explained that as students in Jamaica we had a lot of competitive sport... He made the comment that they did in Nigeria as well, but how come that they did not do better ? ...It looks like they are investing..it is paying off..

By 2016 Nigeria can go head to head with Jamaica - Athletics Federation

  Following Nigeria's impressive showing at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,Scotland, the Athletics Federation of Nigeria(AFN)believes that their developmental programmes is now paying off.
  
  Technical Director of the AFN,Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama said that the federation is now reaping the dividends of the developmental framework that has been put in place since 2012.
  
  Nesiama noted that they will replicate such template for the forthcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
  
  The AFN even believes that come 2016,Nigeria will be in a good position to be able to match Jamaica in Athletics.
  
  “At the federation level, we are not surprised about the success recorded so far by our athletes in the track and field events.
  
  “We started a developmental programme two and a half years ago which has just produced a male silver medalist at the World Juniors in Oregon.
  
  “The performance of Blessing Okagbare at the Commonwealth Games is an indication that in the next two years we should be in a position to compete favourably head to head with the likes of the Jamaicans.
  
  “So far, so good. We are expecting more. It’s a clear sign that our strategy is working,” Omatseye was quoted as saying on Vanguard Sports.
