Isn't is amazing how rich folks get paid so much that they can afford to live like struggling poor folks? Mi watching som ah dese actors, and actress talking bout how dem want some privacy after fighting hard for just dat kindah big success. Den dem tun round an want ah simple life, soh dem goh off an buy ah likkle farm inna som small town, whe dem waa raise som chickens an odda livestock, an sey dem ah live di simple life, right back whe many ah dem started from.

Jamaican philosophy of life

An American businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Jamaican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked.
Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna.
The American complimented the Jamaican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Jamaican replied only a little while.
The American then asked why didn't he stay out longer and catch more fish.
The Jamaican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs.
The American then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time?
The Jamaican fisherman said, "Me sleep late, fish a likkle, play wid' me pickney, mek love wid' me wife Dawn, tek stroll ina' de village each evening where I drink rum and play domino wid' me bredren,
Me have a full and busy life, sir.
The American scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and could help you.
You should spend more time fishing. With the proceeds buy a bigger boat with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats.
Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats and instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the processor, eventually opening your own cannery.
You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Kingston, then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise."
The Jamaican fisherman asked, "But sir, how long will all dis tek?"
The American replied, "15-20 years." Den wha' next me a' do, sir?"
The American laughed, smiled, and said "that's the best part". When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions."
Millions, sir? Den wha'?" asked the Jamaican! This made the American pause.......
Then he humbly replied,
"Then you would retire, move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, make love with your wife, take walks into the village in the evenings where you could drink rum and play dominoes with your friends".

The older I get the more I get this. Why stress yourself out over work? Life is too short! The fact that we spend most of our lives stuck in traffic while trying to get to a place where we chain ourselves to a desk in order to make someone else extremely wealthy, and the kicker is that we are told that we are lucky to do so, is insane.

I find I don't need much these days, just enough to enjoy life with those I love and care about. Beyond that is just "stuff", mostly meaningless.
