I work with a wonderful young lady from the island of Mauritius. mi neva know seh is french dem speak deh till I met her
Her colloquialisms crack up the whole office
as she tries to pick up local slang. like the one afternoon after a very busy day she exclaimed to the whole office "I am about to poop on my desk" it is incredible how much we (Jamaicans) have in common.
she is Asian (chinese) but 4th generation in Mauritius. So she does not speak Mandarin or Cantonese or anything other than french and english, and even her french is more "creole" then french.
Just thought I would share that
