The film also featured Ethel Waters, Louis Armstrong, and Butterfly McQueen. Directed by Vincente Minnelli. Nominated in 1944 Best Music/Original Song Oscar.</span></span>

Shame on me - I have not read that book.
Besides the Lena Horne pics, I just chose some random ones that caught my eye. There are so many other exceptional photos on the site - some of them make me feel proud, while others make me feel incredibly sad. I like that the whole range of the African-American experience is portrayed in the pics. It's just a pity we don't have more context for the anonymous subjects.
