Just recently been reading about the dry Aral Sea, prior to then I had never heard of it. An example of how man made projects can totally disseminate one of nature's finest. The Aral Sea was once one of the world's largest great lakes. Over the past 50 odd years it dried up due to a Soviet project diverting its waters to feed cotton production.
