I have been looking forward to this day since August 18, 2010
The festival started at 11:00 but I didn't get there until 1:00pm. First order of business was to plant my chair in an ideal spot.
it seemed that there were not many people there yet, but actually most everyone was already ensconced in the Big Rock Beer gardens. Big Rock is a local brewery who have been strong supporters of the Reggaefest since day one http://www.bigrockbeer.com/ the organizers made a smart decision this year and moved the beer gardens from the side of the stage to the back of the venue, where the drinkers could actually see the stage.
Next mission was to get some food
On stage at this time was Singing D and Daddy H from Edmonton Alberta.
As you can see the crowd is pretty sparse this early in the day.
What I found interesting was the interaction of the CPD (Calgary Police department) with the festival attendees. I had to take a picture of this interaction, it would seem from afar that the CPD was hassling this guy but as I was in earshot they were actually showing him a business card of one of the food vendors and asking his opinion on which one had the best food
CPD
I went to my favorite food vendor Joy's Caribbean Catering
not only because she is a friend of the family (my parents) but because her food is always damn good
I had a patty and a homemade ginger beer which was frozen and just perfect in that heat. $6.00Cdn
Next on stage was Tonya P aka First Lady from out of Toronto
She set the precedence for the ladies on stage today of the removal of shoes mid performance.
with the exception of my girl Nadine Sutherland who wore the highest heels of them all and danced more than all the female performers.
