Re: Word Origin
Good question! Wondering if it could be derived from someone with the surname 'Ginnal' who may have been a well known trickster?

Re: Word Origin
There are words in our vocabulary that are not to be taken literally and often times our use of the word is opposite to actual meaning. I've always considered 'ginnal or jinnal' (depending on how you spell) to be our derivative of the word "genial".
A genial is someone who is diffused with sympathy and friendliness (to the point where it can be nauseating). Well, look at it this way, in JA's vocab the person who is so genial, diffusing of friendliness and sympath may potentially be a jinnal. Ex, despite Mildred's sweet genial personality, her Jamaican co-workers found her to be a jinnal under all the friendliness.
