Mi not calling no names but a Toronto based actor who definitely is not a light skinned Black and who has an American accent shared something bizarre. He said he has stopped auditioning for some Black American producers as they give him feedback that he is not "Black enough". These are the same producers obsessed with casting light skinned and Latin women.
The "not Black enough" label has implications beyond film and television and I almost posted this in parenting as some Black young people get slapped with that label and hounded at school. The related statement "you think you're White" is also thrown around. Again, there are broader implications beyond high school.
So, when someone says "you are not Black enough", what the hexodus does that mean?
