Music & Roosters & Dogs Oh My!

I hadn't stayed with family in decades. I am in the country. I had forgotten about the non-stop music (we can walk up de 'ill to the main street in the town nearby. At night there are street parties. I remember RichD spoke about this. At night there are dogs barking and between the music and the dogs you get to sleep late. The roosters wake you in the morning. So I nap in the afternoon and join in the dancing at night.

The water still gets locked off but everyone has water tanks. Is this island wide now?

Never noticed them before but then I have been staying at hotels.

I only noticed the water tanks in the hills of St. Ann before. I never noticed them anywhere else. Visiting family when you are staying at a hotel and staying with family are 2 completely different experiences. It's more fun when you stay with family but you get more sleep when you stay at a hotel.

The second night, the people on the other side of the street, 2 houses down, set up 3 HUGE speaker boxes and tables and chairs, tenting, etc. and they had a big party that went on all night.

The set-up was at the school. One lady didn't come as she said she did not want to hear any boogu yagga music. It was only Christian music that the band played. A couple of the people started jiggling and carrying on and the singer said she was seeing too many hip gyrations. "There is no problem with dancing but keep it clean people." I applauded and cheered and so did a lot of other people.

I am the one who served the chicken. The people left about an hour after the food was served.

As a follow up to our discussion about funerals, I saw nothing like what people described on here. There was absolutely no slutty dressing. Everyone dropped modestly. It was packed, they had to set up chairs in the yard.
