i am away struck by the fact that while people love talk about his rhetoric, they never encourage his passion like Garvey...lifetime learning through reading, especially history and biography... and not just reading what you agree with but what you dont..the fact he was constantly evolving. He made a statement that some of the best discusions he had was after media round tables discusing non racial issues... when he was talked to like a human being not a black human being
Two things that i blame him for... is the demonisation of "Uncle Tom...and the misinterpretation of the role of the house slave in slavery... on both counts he was wrong and it has led to very poor scholarship as well as image inversions...

he gave a side of the struggle that was necessary...another angle from the prevailing civil-rights movement & martin luther king...brought it into the international sphere...
the people needed a one such as this---brash and in-your-face with intelligence & manhood...the swagger was needed after all the long centuries of being belittled by the terrorist apartheid american racial system
