It's up to the public to sift through the mess and piece together the truth.

I mean look at the title of the article from the obvious left wing op/ed writer. That title throws up red flags as soon as you read it...un biased balanced opinion piece? I think not.

Opinion by definition is biased. it is just i one observers opinion and i posted it as food for thought.

the big problem for people is they watch opinion shows on TV and think its news coverage.

I watched a few minutes of FNC yesterday and I coudl see how easily somebody who uses that as their sole source will come away with the view that the president is a traitor

This whole release/exchange has my head spinning. It seems all sides are right and wrong at the same time. Here is an interesting point I heard here in South Florida (large Cuban community)...there is an American held in jail in Cuba convicted of bringing satellite phones and computer equipment into the country to help the Jewish community there..apparently the Cuban Gov't is willing to swap him for a few of their spy's. Why do not do this instead of that? Who is more worthy?

That's true...and even so called news coverage frequently has a reporters spin.

It's tough to find 'just the news'....I suppose everything reported has some spin, interpretation is part of human nature.

that is why i always ask myself why they choose to report it that way? what is their bias? then i go see how a few other outlets are reporting the same story

Yep, I try to do the same thing. I think that's a good way to approach it. On international incidents involving the US, I google a topic and read english versions from news sources around the world. Just to get another take on the situation. That way I see how others see the US.

Yeah, I know that story. That guy is from Maryland where I live.

(I was going to say that I know that story well, but how well do we know any story?)
