Exactly. That extended link is what is missing in a lot of black families today, due to all sorts of reason.

At least they will have someone who is trustworthy, and God knows that the importance of that just increased by a zillion and 1.

It all comes down to respect and judging from the &quot;behind the scenes&quot; pictures from the election night, it seem as if they (MIL and Obama) get along very well. They couldn't have done a better thing, although it must be a great sacrifice for Michelle's mom to uproot in that way, she must believe it will be well worth it.

there are 35 bathrooms. I am sure they could wak for days in the house and not see each other

the MIL could be relaxing down in a retirement community in FL, but she is choosing to help out for the next *gasp* 4 or 8 years, that is great. Not sure I could do it.

nanny and maids cannot take care of a child the way family would

a lot of these celebrities kids are looked after by the make up artist, publicist etc. but I rarely see grandparents in the picture

well during the campaign he did say that it would be absurd to deport 12 million people so I doubt that his camp is camped out at ICE headquarters waiting to submit papers

The living quarters in the white house is over 5,000 square feet. It's all on one floor, but that should be plenty of space for 4 people...even if one of them is a MIL.

Ah noh every Mother-In-Law ah trouble. Dem hav som cool wans out deh man. Matta ah fact som ah dem wi tek dem son-in-law side sometimes gense dem own daughter if shi wrong, an tell har soh if shi dare ask.

I think this move will help drive home to us, that we need to get back to the family, and extended family that we as a people use to depend on years ago.

That's what my daughter, son-in-law, and I were thinking when we decided to move my mom in with us. She was 89 at the time, and not taking good care of herself. I sold my condo, my mom's house was for sale, but the market collapsed, so we're going to rent it out until the market revives. When it does, we plan on paying down this big mortgage. We found a big house with 3 master bedrooms , so we would each have our private space. She's 91 now, and going strong.

Actually the four of us live quite well together, and get along famously. BTW, she wanted to get an apartment of her own, and the Prez-elect vetoed that idea.

my grandma and her husband lived with us for as long as i can remember...my dad loves then. he is closer to my with my grandma (mom side) than wiht his own mother.
