TD Jakes set to visit Jamaica

Bishop T.D. Jakes, the acclaimed United States preacher, is scheduled to visit Jamaica December 9-11.

On the first two days of his visit, he will conduct outdoor meetings at the National Stadium. He will, on day three, conduct a leadership seminar at the Hilton Kingston hotel before leaving the island for another destination.

Jakes is being brought to Jamaica by Pastors in Action, an organisation comprising mainly evangelical and Pentecostal pastors <span style="font-weight: bold">led by the Reverend Dr Merrick 'Al' Miller</span>, of the Fellowship Tabernacle group of churches.


The series of meetings to be conducted by the visiting clergy-man has been dubbed 'The Way Forward: The Future Depends on You with Bishop T.D. Jakes'.

Thomas Dexter Jakes is the senior pastor of The Potter's House, a megachurch in Dallas, Texas. He has achieved fame through the broadcast of his sermons on cable and satellite television. He is also the author of more than 30 books, many of which have become best-sellers. He is a songwriter, playwright, performer and record-label owner.

He is also famous for the staging of the popular conferences 'Woman, Thou Art Loosed', 'ManPower' and 'God's Leading Ladies'. In recent years, Jakes has combined these conferences into an event called 'Megafest'.

Jakes, who belongs to the Oneness Pentecostal tradition, has, in recent times, been directing a lot of his energy towards Africa. He <span style="font-weight: bold">has been working</span> to improve water-supply systems on the continent, as well as offer medicine and educational support.

Tickets for Jakes' meetings at the National Stadium <span style="font-weight: bold">are being sold at $1,000 for bleachers and $2,000 for grandstand</span>. Currently, the tickets are available online at www.jachangers.org or by making email contact at [email protected].

But that's alot of money down there Sagal.
Many people go down there and don't charge the people an entry fee. This guy makes millions and now wants to make more off the backs of poor people.
I hope Jesus deal withh him proper

were it but dat easy...dung deh is juss like up yah...in di black church, people wi put awf dem kidney transplant fi seh dem did go one a dem showstopping preacha deh...pride pride pride an pride driving dem an di congregants....inner circle. outta inner circle in waiting...waiting to be able to up dem tithing so dem crass dat line to di inner circle...an yes,the ministers encourage it by tolerating it happening around dem...cause if dem dat closely in touch wid God dem would have seen the shift in behaviour in demself an rung dem as money stawt flow...

This is what is very sad!!! Church is big business and believe you me its recession proof. They're idiolizing these Ministers. People don't have a cent to their name. However, they are tithing to be able to sit in the front row of the church. Or better yet they can't afford to put gas in their car..however they make it for bible study every Wednesday night. It's all about priorities. Ignorance is expensive.

I appreciate T.D. Jakes and the other Pastor's messages. However, they are not getting rich on their own accord. They're getting rich off of people. People who have their priorities all mixed up. It's funny how many wealthy people will be going to see T.D. Jakes in JA. I'm sure not many. However, a lot of poor and working class will be there in abundance

TD Jakes conference a rallying cry for Jamaica

&quot;Enough is enough!&quot;

That was the consensus among those present at yesterday's official launch of a two-day conference, scheduled for the National Stadium in St Andrew, at which world-renowned preacher, Bishop T.D. Jakes, will make his first official appearance in Jamaica.

Programme organiser, the Rev Al Miller, said the conference would serve as part of a series of action steps to break the negative trend of crime and lawlessness now taking over the island.

&quot;The conference is a rallying cry to mobilise the Christian community for practical engagement in the process of change towards building the new Jamaica that we all desire,&quot; he told individuals gathered at the Liguanea Club in New Kingston yesterday.

Jakes will be the guest speaker at the Pastors in Action leadership conference to be held December 9-10, under the theme 'The Way Forward: The Future Depends on You'.

Miller said Jakes was invited to Jamaica <span style="font-weight: bold">because <span style="font-style: italic">it is believed </span>that he can identify with the nation's struggles</span>.

&quot;(He can) help to challenge our people to engage the process for change,&quot; he said.

Miller also extended an open invitation to all pastors and their wives to attend a National Pastors' Strategy Meeting, which will follow the two-day conference on December 11 at the National Indoor Sports Centre. Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Jakes will address the leaders in a closed meeting.
