She just told them that we all know what's going to happen so why are we going thru this exercise of hearings, hearing, hearings - you know you're going to get your money.

She just asked them whether or not they're going to dedicate 1 billion dollars of the money they'll get to assist minority car dealerships.

And why I like Maxine ... she's talking the truth - hearings or no hearings, it's a far more likely than not, they're going to get their money.

I was in a club (VICA, now called SkillsUSA) in high school and we needed money to get 10 people from Los Angeles to Atlanta, GA for a national competition. The school budget couldn't support sending us all so we asked her for help since my high school was in her district. She came through for us and secured the funds necessary for us to go - our team ended up placing fifth in the nation in our competition.

That trip meant the world for a group of teenage girls from an underserved high school who for some, before that trip, had never traveled outside of LA. We met people from all over the country and the whole experience boosted our self esteem tremendously.

She definitely is not without controversy but her heart is in the right place.
