I would prefer that the decline of American super power status usher in a new era that replaces the model of dominance with international cooperation as expressed through an effective UN. No country has to dominate another. All countries understand the importance of a &quot;network of mutuality.&quot; But this is mere idealism.

Don't forget: the US has been ranked below other 1st world nations in a number of important pointers in healthcare, education and well-being. US is still number 1 in GDP.

But do you know one area where the US absolutely kicks a-ss? bible reading. Yup. Number 1.

yes, in GDP <span style="font-weight: bold">per capita</span>, America is - what 6 or 7. But its GDP stands at 13 trillion, at 2007. See the listing by countries here.

Still, GDP per capita can be misleading, as you know. It doesn't measure wealth distribution in a country. It's like two homeless men sitting on a bench at the side of the road. Warren Buffet comes up and sits down beside them. Suddenly, they are all billionaires.

it all being manufactured been floating fi a long while...explain how it gwine to reestablish di balance of trade doah...wat, we a go file fi bankruptcy an den stawt again </div></div>well so far there has been an significant flight to the Us dollar as a safe haven currency ( check the exchage rates 1 GBP = US$1.47 in summer it was 1 gbp = US$2 ) as far as balance of trade ..the downturn in the economy is curtailing imports drastically and suddenly protectionism seems like the way to go the incoming administration is talking about discouraging companies from moving manufacturing overseas.
