It sounds like the wine was slightly "corked". . a one in 10 chance after 5 years with the chance increasing...

Proper procedure decant the bottle 20 minutes before drinking. then if it is really bad decant again... My mother taught me that in Jamaica! Yu duh deh same wid suga and wata when yu nuh want deh un dissolved suga fi tan a battam.... sophisticated yankis....that is standard practice for old wines, which may have sediment you lose uu pt 10 % of the bottle.. In Italy and Spain when we go to an old Resturant you called a head and they will decant the wine for you.... I however was struck bu the fact hat in wine drinking countries they make less of a fuss the showy sommilier is not nessisty......What we did in the past is take the last of the bottle to the lab.. put it through a high speed centrifudge at its lowest senting...


$75 dollar wine ??? Hell tuesday I enjoyed a 50 year old brandy...that was $100.00 a glass....(They bought out 25 year old brandy and me wid my big mouth guh sey mi only jink 50 year ole.. Deh waita guh ah im yard an bring back deh lass battle in deh wole af dat run!

waiters are an honarvble career. I think the anglo attitude to them stinks they are afford little respect adn are veiwed a simply automotons.... But the idea that some young minimum waged part time attractive student filling time has the gravitas to bring the service.... A queit word would have surficed... and twenty minutes later... bobs your uncle...

Having said that I find that conversing with the waitress is rather a pleasant method of relaxing them...

course Whichy will disagree with me... Yankis are always right, yardies could not possibly know anything. But my attitude is that alot of wine snmobbery is insecure affectation... But I hang out with Italians who drink wine on a daily basis ....

the money brokers may work in NY but they live across the river and yes there are many fine restaurants in the garden state whose cuisine and service are impeccable

Well first, i think we need to establish what YOU consider fine dining. What you consider fine, may be take out to me and vice versa.

mi lower my expectations when mi guh inna certain places, mi size dem up as mi ketch the front door.

I used to work inan &quot;upscale&quot; restaraunt. We had to take a 5 hour wine presenting course. it was pretty stupid.

well it not stupid when people pay suh much money fi wine and the waiter dem a shake up the sitten, or instead a pour likkle inna the glass and mek the patron test it out fi see if dem want it, the waiter full up the glass to the brim and galang bout dem business.

WOW...this is just unbelievable, really. The waitress coughed in your bottle of wine and your husband was going to taste it if it wasn't for the blonde hair swimming around in it? Unbelievable.

She shook it up like it was a can of paint to be mixed before a-pplyuing to the walls. It takes HOURS at least, if not days, to re-settle so the sediment is not mixed in with the wine.

Arguably, it was mixed a bit just by driving, of course... but not like she did to it.
She shook it up so much that she dropped the dang bottle on the floor.

Then, while I was trying to master my tongue before unleashing it... she picked the bottle up, and tore the cork while removing it.

Arguably, one could decant it and sift out the bigger cork pieces. But one can't strain out all of the cork bits.

I don't care to pretend to be King Henry and Queen Alie-Anor.
I prefer NOT to have to drink the wine by sifting sediment thru my clossed teeth.

Arguably, she isn't sick and therefore didn't cough terrible germs into my wine... but still..... that's ungodly unappetizing. No?

I wasn't gonna drink it after THAAT, no matter what...

But the owner stepped up to our table, very upset... and took our wine to the kitchen to &quot;try to save it&quot; by straining it.

I refused to touch it, but Mr Witchy still tried it... and found a long blonde hair in his glass of wine.

I'm a dark brunette. So was the owner, and so is Mr Witchy. The waitress was a long-haired blonde, and her bun ws coming undone.

Do I need to continue, and tell you how she screwed up the serving of it, too, Bandi?

Or do you now know enough to know taht you weren't gonna taste that wine - even if you drank wine?!
