... on the news this evening that the amount of money (so far) pledged in all this bailout business is enough to pay off half the mortgages held in the United States.

Too bad the government could not give everyone with a mortgage 50% of the money they needed to pay for their properties. People would have some breathing room and start to really spend again and get this economy moving.

I was just spouting off about this to my mom last night.
Why not use some of that money to help bailout the people who are in trouble.

thank u! instead of this top down bailouts maybe they should really do some bottom up bailouts..then if the consumers free up them money then they have more money to spend thus stimulating the economy..
