PEMBROKE PINES - A 7-year-old first-grader robbed a 6-year-old classmate at knifepoint in a school bathroom, a school district official said.
The incident happened Nov. 26 at Pines Lakes Elementary at 10300 Johnson St., district spokesman Keith Bromery said.
The victim's mother reported it to school officials Monday, when classes resumed after the holiday break. No one was injured.
The 7-year-old used a table knife, most likely brought from home, to take the other child's cash, Bromery said.
"I don't know how much he got," Bromery said. "This is by no means normal. This is a very unusual occurrence to see kids that young acting out that way."
The suspect is serving a 10-day suspension and will likely be expelled to an alternate school for children with discipline problems, Bromery said.
