There is a zero tolerance rule in effect in the school district. Anyone who brings a weapon to school is subject to the same punishment. The principle or school administrator cannot exercise judgement in any situation.

There was a story about a high school senior who had mace in her purse. Her mom gave it to her to carry for protection as she walked to and from school. Mace is on the list of weapons and she was subject to the same fate.

She never used it on anyone, nor was there any concerns that she would. It was found on a random search. The story made news because she is a senior, with a high GPA and getting sent to an alternate school would probably mess up her chances to get into the schools she planned to apply to.

10-day expulsion. he'll live. At least they didnt arrest him and tie him up in the legal system and try to charge him as an adult for aggravated assault and armed robery. His actions can't go without consequence beit the first time or wadever. He has to know things like this will happen when you break the rules. by thetime he's ready to go to high school this wont even be on his school record, unless by some misfortune he turns a career criminal by time the 7th grade.

Alternate school, just means he'll be with other kids that have behavior problems. If his parents care about him they can put him into another school. they're already in pembroke pines, they can make the little fe minutes drive down to dade county and register him next school year. if he is a natural ly good kid, with no real behavior problems and was just imitating what he saw then he will be fine.

i would think he can transition back to the same school after a period at the alternative school. but at 7 to place him there, i suspect it is not a first with behavioral issues. The federal law says something about the least restrictive environment for your child so I am sure if the parents are interested they can stop the move if they want to.

They can stop it by putting him in private school.

The case I mentioned earlier, the student had a lawyer on the case (one of those TV investigative types), there was nothing that could be done due to the zero tolerance rule. No exceptions.
