Looked it up.

They will send him to the school for the predetermined time period. If he sucessfully completes the program, his record will be expunged and he can go back to the regular classroom.

They even have a program where the student can work off time and get out of alternate school early. BUT, if you commit one of the more serious crimes, then you must stay for the entire time. Armed robbery is listed as one of the crimes...so I guess he has to serve out his entire time at the alternate school.

I don't think so.

He took a knife from home, hid it, took it to school, and then robbed someone in the bathroom. This child needs some serious counseling.

If he took a dollar out of someone's bag, or even bullied someone in the lunchroom or playground where adults are in the vicinity, that would be different.

Jus like I said, he HAS to finish out the year there. next school year he will be in better shape providing he is not a repeat offender. I know, I been caught up in Florida school chit-stem.
