heard them interview a guy(american doctor) who survived ebola in 1972.
he got it when he cut his hand while performing an autopsy on a victim. at that time the disease was just beginning to become known ..had not even been named yet.
since it requires contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person it is not as easily spread as some other illnesses. When its hot in the jungle of peace I go swimming in the ocean of love.....

Heard on NPR today that it may have come from animal to human via bush meat
What I find troublbing is the American doctor that was airlifted to Atlanta was given a drug and is improving, why is this drug not being sent to africa yet?If you don't fight for what you deserve, you deserve what you get.

it is an untested serum... normally it would take ten years for clinical trials..before even human trials there are dosage and toxicity issues... it is also an offshoot of the tobbaco industry....

Of course you are correct. But rational, sensible information doesn't feed the hunger of the paranoid mind of some folks. The conspiracy theories just boggle the mind.Originally posted by Wahalla View Posthttp://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/07/bu...ment.html?_r=0

Where is Europe with their research? US the only country researching this disease?

it's only in the early stages, not yet tested on humans, still quite a long way to go before it can be made available to the public
the 2 americans had to sign waivers that they understood the risk involved (unknown side effects etc)
according to the industry, giving it to the patients in other countries (or anywhere) is unethical etc and could result in legal problems further down the road

LW... the answer is i dont know....
but those Peski Kanadians are doing work..
The race is on to find ways to prevent and cure the disease that has killed more than 8,000 people in West Africa.
It is also worth noting that there is reserch going on in University Labs but the leap to manufacturing takes a wwhile..
