Nobody co-operates in this countries political system unless its done at knifepoint. That sucks, but it is what it is.
For me, this all boils down to a constitutional issue. All powers of the PMO derive from the assumed confidence of the commons, which normally is not questioned, even in a majority government. The moment that coalition became a formal arrangement and announced themselves to the GG, I believe the PMO no longer had that assumed confidence. To then allow the PM to request a prorogue of parliment I believe is then a violation of the PM's rights under our constitution. To do so while his government is under duress is clearly unethical and violation of the "conventions" of our constitution.
I support the tories (for now) and I hate to see them go, but for me, the sanctity of our constitution is paramount in all times, and no party, no policy, no emergency is justification for any potential damage to that which is the core of our country.
So what I see happening today is a dangerous precendent. The PM has superceded his authority as implied in the constitution. He has gone against long standing tradition in calling for a pro-rogue of parliment in order to save the government. He has essentially destroyed the office of the GG, which is the one real check on his powers. From this day forward, the PM will be a law unto himself, and the constitution will be interpretted at his/her whim for his/her benefit.
That to me is disgusting, its absolutely 100% uncanadian, and I cannot beleive this country is lying down and allowing it to happen. I cannot believe the GG rolled over and allow for a gross perversion of our customs and constitutional conventions.</div></div>
When its hot in the jungle of peace I go swimming in the ocean of love.....

Another 700 people look like they are going to lose their jobs at the GM plant in my town (announced last night). And I believe (someone correct me off I'm wrong) that they build one of GM's most popular selling car, if not the most popular, the Chevy Impala.
We are having a hard time obtaining long term contract commitments where I work because many businesses are not certain they will be around after the holidays to honour them. Everyone is in wait and see mode at the moment and now the government is nowhere to be found during this time of crisis.
Typical!
This whole society is going to turn Mad Maxish if things don't take a turn for the better sooner than later.
