I hadn't been for a long time. I had observed it before but it really hit me this time after spending a lot of time in the country.

Cities always have a different vibe from the country but after driving around in the country so much, people in Kingston seemed to have an edge to them. The men in particular have a much harsher sounding accent that the men in the country. I find this a bit strange as the people who live in Kingston come from all over.

Town life all over the world is edgier than country life. People living in NYC, Toronto, Miami will certainly have a different vibe than those living in on a farm in Iowa or plains of Saskatchewan.

For sure, but in those case, you don't have a lot of people who still have recent links to country if you know what I mean.

The speech patterns, especially for the men, are so different. If I can find video examples I will post them.

No I don't know what you mean. Are you referring to the amount of time they have been living in Kingston?

In my travels to Jamaica and I am finding that everyone almost the same wither it is a city or small town. Maybe it is the technology gap but I am not picking up wide distinctions...It may be because I have not gone deep into the country like I used to.

No I don't know what you mean. Are you referring to the amount of time they have been living in Kingston?

Yes. Kingston has a lot of people who grew up in the country and now live in town. In places like New York, Toronto, Chicago, you don't have a lot of people who have any connection with rural life.

I guess that is why I picked up the differences this time. I spent most of my time in the country and went WAY up in the hills to a very remote area. Also went through some remote parts of St. Ann, up in the hills and I was in St. Elizabeth for a bit. I usually hang out around Ochi. It's a different experience.
