Failed Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin topped President-elect Barack Obama in Google Inc.'s annual ranking of its fastest-rising global search terms for 2008 released on Wednesday.
The Mountain View company (NASDAQ:GOOG) said its annual study of the billions of search queries that people type into its search engine "gives us a glimpse into the zeitgeist — the spirit of the times."
Alaska Gov. Palin ranked No. 1, while Obama finished at No. 6.
The top search terms, in order, were: Palin, Beijing 2008, Facebook login, Spanish social networking site Tuenti, dead actor Heath Ledger, Obama, Polish social networking site Nasza Klasa, German social networking site Wer Kentt Wen, Euro 2008 and the singing Jonas Brothers.
