I think you will find that some who expose racism by whites also hate their fellow african brothers and sisters.

Some would even rather say they are proud to be 'black' than say they are proud to be african or be of african heritage.

It is a twisted psychology like SOME religion where they preach love towards all and simultaneously hate/depsise those not of their faith or religion. Just look around love/hate all mixed up in their minds. Anyway don't derail the thread, I find it facinating how some people minds work and how they justify and excuse away certain reality!

I disagree with Newtral. The uk is far more racist than the usa. I have LIVED in both countries and I stand by that.

How many black actors, sports celebrities, millionaires, TV presenters, singers, R&amp;B artists, doctors, judges, professors can the uk claim. Very few and token few in most areas. The uk is institutionally racist and they are very subtle with it. An englishman CANNOT stomach having a &quot;black&quot; manager, or boss. Having a nice house, car etc. &quot;Too much&quot; money in the bank = EXTRA suspicion if you're 'black'. The police force in this country is a joke with even the highest non white police ranking officer is NOT 'black'!! Yet he faces racism from his white colleagues. Those of african heritage in the uk are passified, not hungry for change and has no fight for change. They are comfortable being exactly where they are - at the bottom in comparison to the other races and cultures in the uk and they justify away their laziness to change the system or create an infrastructure for the future generation...

I am seriously considering moving back to the usa... more violent yes (in some parts) but far more advanced, modern and there is an infrastructure for people of African heritage in america. Non in comparison in the uk absolutely none.

No Denzel Washington success to compare
No Hollywood 'black' success to compare

... just plucking names at random here and I could go on for both male and female african success in america...

The likes of Obama will NEVER EVER transpire in the uk, the history of both countries are different. One fought tooth and nail to get their place among all the other foreigners who had a slice of the pie in the usa; the other is simply tolerated in an ENGLISHMAN'S country with the monarch at the head. The constitutions are so vastly different.

I do agree woth some of your points,however I have to draw reference to the previous poster who suggested that the UK is still in its infancy where black people are concerned,its been a relatively short time since black people have settled in the UK.

There were still a few remnants of blacks left over from slavery,those mainly settled in liverpool,but the vast majority of black people only started to migrate to the UK after the second world war.
In terms of racism and brutality towards black I would have to give the trophy to the US,they do have a world of knowledge and experience to offer in terms of lynchings,burnings,and murder in the foulest way against blacks.

I disagree with you that an Obama would never be possible in the UK,...400 years is a very long time,and there is no reason why a black man could never become prime minister in the UK in another 300 hundred years,...Obama has shown that it is possible,it only takes the right kind of black man with the right message.

Lets not forget that Obama`s win was possible because he galvanised black people who would never consider voting,in another 300 hundred years the ethnic make-up of the UK will be far more different than it is now,....any prospective black prime minister wont just be relying on the white vote,he will be able to draw considerably from black people voting.

What does identifying the person by race have to do with racism? Let's 'stretch' this by asking where a black person has more opportunities to succeed and even become the head of a company or president of the US? You're still so silly after a year or more?

I have to disagree,the average white american doesnt know anything about other cultures except what they hear on CNN,...they are very limited in their travels,and ignorant no baxide with it,......we here in the british isles are in the midst of a vast continent where different cultures are but a couple hours plane flight away.

In any case,its simply rediculous to say that the Uk is far more racist than the US,....lynching was part of everyday life in the US,...it was seen as a good day out to go and watch 20 or 30 black people being hanged,that kind of barbarity didnt exist in the UK.

Black people still have to be careful about some of the places they visit in the south in the US,..and mixed relationships are still frowned on in some places,that level of ignorance doesnt exist in the uk,....in my opinion.

I dont know where some people form their opinion from,but i`ve lived in the Uk for 33 years and I have visited the states,...and from what I have seen I would far better live in the UK than in the states,........heck,...even in Jamaica race is a big big concern,...the chinese and the asians are at the top,and blacks are way down the bottom.
