Today I posted in my blog on the Charles Barkley comments on Auburn hiring a white coach with a bad team record over a black coach with a decent record. I think race played a role in this but is it racism? I know many who will disagree with me on this. Here is a scenario I posted and I want you consider how you think about situations.
Lets say you are black (You can do the reverse if you are white). You are watching an Olympic race with 8 men from countries you have never heard of before. This means you have no country alliance. You do not know the background of each runner so there is no "touchy feely" story to sway you to a runner. You do notice that one of the runners are black. Who do you want to win? Chances are if you are black you are cheering for the black running. Is this racism? If a white person did this would you consider then racist? Should someone be called racist because the gravitate to the familiar? </div></div> If the reason why you want him to win is because he is of the same race as you,it certainly is racism.
The difference is that in this case your practice of racism does not harm anyone. Racism is only dangerous, if it harms or is likely to harm comeone include the person practicing it.
Yes the practopner ois harmed in many cases.
Especially when they chose a critical skillied person luke a phisician on the basis of race thus eliminating the possibillity of selecting a more capable one of other race, when your life depend on the choice.
It happens more often that you would want to believe. </div></div>
I don't know Dr. Dudd. When you spell physician as "phisician" people start to talk.
</div></div> You mean me leave out the "F"??
