Many liberals are very disappointed that Rick Warren has been invited to give the invocation at Obama's inauguration. I am one of them. Enough already with the evangelical right.

No, just showing his true colors. I have a feeling this won't be the last time you say this.
This is the "inclusiveness" that Obama was talking about where those with whom you disagree you embrace and work with. That's why Pastor Rick will give the opening prayer and David Duke will give a salutation.

If you look way forward in International News section you will see where I noted that I have not doubts that he is a conservative, but getting Rick Warren to give whatever they call it is madness.

Re: Rick Warren Invocation invitation
Y'all hop off.
What is Barack doing wrong? What is wrong with making peace and living good even with those people with whom you might not totally agree.
He is setting an example. Fighting to change people's beliefs and practices has done what but cause killing? Leave the messiah and let him do what he is called to do.

You mean calling him out on getting a Right Wing-Nut, stuffed shirt religious gook to strut and parade in on a National Stage is wrong?

I'd say equally as wrong as what he is doing.
I dread the day when you all turn on him.

Re: Rick Warren Invocation invitation
I think this is the reason for the feelings toward R Warren:
<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">the Reverend betrayed his carefully crafted image of a moderate evangelical by aggressively supporting the passage of Proposition 8 -- and blatantly "bearing false witness" in the process. In his support for the measure <span style="font-weight: bold">Warren misleadingly argued that the proposition was needed to legally protect the free speech of those that disagreed with the freedom to marry. As incorrect as that line is, it was left largely unchecked by the media in the days leading up to the Election -- thus contributing significantly to Proposition 8's passage.</span></div></div>

In the first place, what is religion doing at a secular event like the inauguration, anyway? When was the last time a president-elect took the oath of office placing his hands on the US Constitution which actually governs the country, as opposed to the Bible which does not?

Barack basically spat into the eye of the Progressive Movement on this one!
