I'm asking the Ja.com family to watch BET tommorow night...

at 10 P.M, Friday December 19th) and watch a documentary about the Shower Posse (Jamaican gang from the 1980s). It came on tonight but I was not alerted until 10:40 that it was already on. I was able to catch the part where they mentioned the murder of my uncle (a picture is provided), a story I have mentioned here before.

My uncle was not Jamaican, but the interesting thing about him, is that while he was a Kittitian (from the island of St. Kitts) the gang's violence that originated in Jamaica in the late 1970s, in a roundabout way reached the island of St. Kitts through one of its former members and ended up causing the death of my uncle.

Bloz, you know how much I wanted to bring this to TV even mentioning it to you up to last week but as you can see, someone else got to it before me.

Anyway, I'm asking you guys to set it on your reminders to watch it. Seems like it was quite interesting and for those of you who remember Vivian Blake (Cactus Night club), he will be free from prison on January 1st 2009.

Is this a new docu? THere are several that make the rounds on the airways. There are two books out there, both banned in Jamaica. I think Seaga has a lawsuit against one of the authors.

Yes, Vivian Blake's son (Duane Blake) wrote one book but it is heavily biased (understandably) in favor of his father. The book is called <span style="font-style: italic">Shower Posse </span> which I have a copy of but not here with me. I don't recall him calling out Seaga because there seems to be an effort on his part to make sure his father is portrayed as just a small time &quot;Street pharmacist&quot; who simply unwittingly helped young boys from Tivoli (his district) get away from trouble and come to New York. The blame was then placed on Blake's younger brother who came from Jamaica with a bad temper and lots of enemies in pursuit but then the larger blame was placed on Charles &quot;Little Nut&quot; Miller from St. Kitts as the gang's real leader and mastermind who was supposed to be a brutal, merciless killer who broke ranks with Blake and did his own thing. Seaga, if I recall, is left out of the mix and John Brown, again if I recall, is portrayed, like Vivian Blake, as a hero of the people.

Another part of the show that was questionable was that they mentioned that Miller came from St. Kitts on his own free will to initiate a defense of himself. This is completely false and you can tell it was false because right after the narrator says he (Miller) came over on his own, the next picture they show is him in handcuffs coming off a jet (in Florida) which is exactly how I remember seeing it on the local news.

The real story (that is left out of the documentary) is that while in Nevis in 1999 for my grandmother's funeral, some cousins of mine came up from St Kitts on the ferry and told me with joy that &quot;Little Nut geh shoot.&quot; Ironically, Was sitting on a porch looking over at St. Kitts at the time when they came into the yard. Turns out that he was not shot but was involved in a shootout. The cops showed up and whisked him away which he thought was for his safety because everyone knew he bought off the police force and gov't. Pressure came down on the gov't from the people who claimed they (the gov't) was harboring a criminal. With elections looming and not wanting their campaign smeared with Little Nut being a factor, they called up the U.S DEA who they would not cooperate with prior to that, and told them to come and get Charles Miller. To Miller's surprise, he was arrested and taken into U.S DEA custody. Another variation of the story states that he willingly turned himself over fearing for his life on St. Kitts.

That dude destroyed the innocence of St Kitts all by himself by funneling through crack and cocaine and starting a new breed of violent crime. My uncle's death was a huge step downwards because officers were never killed over there. More sophisticated guns hit the streets, the election was violent and murders began to rise along with people strung out on crack. Then he brought unwanted bad attention to the island by having <span style="font-style: italic">America's Most Wanted</span>, <span style="font-style: italic">60 Minutes</span> and <span style="font-style: italic">Scotland Yard</span> all over the story.
