My company is not wasting any time.

I'm off this week on vacation (didn't go anywhere just sticking around home). I thought I would just keep an eye on my email so when I get back next week I won't have a backlog.

Almost every time I check it they have announced that another position has been eliminated and someone laid off.

I think I better just stop checking because this is really starting to get ridiculous now. Four people in my department chopped today alone.

So they send out e-mail announcements when this happens? Or are these 'unofficial' communications sent by co-workers.

When someone gets &quot;let go&quot; an official email is sent to all the workers in that department by the department manager telling them as such.

My old airline, when they used to discontinue service to a station, they'd send them a fax! Your station is being closed, you are all fired. You can appy for open position elsewhere. Dem nuh easy you see.

These people I worked with would have been notified in person yes. At least they waited 'til after the holidays I suppose.

Not sure Rich? I guess I will phone some of them over the next few days to see.

Which brings me to a question. Do you negotiate a package or do you just accept what they give you? Just want to know if my turn should arrive.

It can be negotiated. I know of someone that hired an attorney (some big name guy who specializes in termination agreements). Originally, the lady asked for &quot;X&quot;, company said no, agreement would stay as-is. Lady hired the bigwig, all he did was send a letter announcing that he would be representing her and Co. should contact him in regards to her case.

Broops, all in a sudden she get what she asked for.
