Jamaica is in a better place today, says Simpson Miller
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller says that Jamaica is at a better place today thanks to a number of initiatives including the creation of several thousand jobs in various industries, investments and sound economic management by her administration.
Simpson Miller was addressing the People’s National Party’s 76th annual national conference at the National Arena in Kingston.
She said that there are several investments, in the billions of dollars, to come, not only out of China but out of the United States and Europe.
“The future is looking bright, we welcome thee investments,” said Simpson Miller who thanked the local and international investors.
She said one of the investments to come shortly is the expansion of the Kingston Wharves.
She said also that there will be accelerated growth and that the Government will be aggressively pursuing economic expansion.
“So how dem say nothing naa gwaan?” Simpson Miller asked to loud cheers.
“… when people say nothing naa gwaan you can proudly say, big things a gwaan and our country is moving on,” she added.
She said also that the rural development thrust is to be named in memory of late Agriculture Minister Roger Clarke, who she said was a champion of rural development.
