This is why I said &quot;some peeps&quot; do that. I do agreee that the banning might be a way to improve efficiency, but from before woppie kill fillup, Ja airport workers were never known to be efficient, even before cell phones came into existence.

really , i disagree....i can vividly trace di decline of attitudes in workers at the airport....matter of fact, i typed out an article about Palisadoes Airport as written in a 1960s National Geographics....

at anyrate, travelling use to be fun...people working at the airport use to be pleasant and acommodating just because dem was nice...people hanging around di airport use to hang in di waving gallery, not on di grung to bodda people...dat stawted wid di devaluations and di run on farrin currency...even wen it was juss white ooman who had dem boo a yaad fi visit, u neva ha wat a gwane now...

is awhole lot of change fi di wuss gwane due to demand creating supply

MI agree with you on certain things, however, as far as I can remember airport workers never even &quot;walk fast&quot;. They had to stop and greet everybody before they attend to you, and those AJ check in people were quite hostile as if you were bothering them, but the point is taken, It is worse now than ever.

MBJ Airports puts cell phone ban on hold

The management of the MBJ Airports has put on hold its decision to ban the use of cellular phones by some employees.

MBJ said it is reviewing the decision.

According to Chief Commercial Officer of MBJ Elizabeth Scotton <span style="font-weight: bold">the restriction applies to all airport personnel and is specific to airside only</span>.

She said the directive is based on an extensive security survey conducted by the Civil Aviation Authority and the Ministry of National Security concerning narcotics issues.

One of the recommendations was to implement a policy regarding the restriction of access of personal cell phones.

<span style="font-weight: bold">According to Ms. Scotton the rationale for the recommendation was that it is unsafe for persons to be distracted on cell phones while working in an active area.</span>

<span style="font-weight: bold">In addition</span>, she said restricting the use of personal cell phones <span style="font-weight: bold">would assist in aviation security, contraband security efforts and corporate security by restricting collusion of activities between airside and groundside personnel.</span>

<span style="font-style: italic">On Monday the National Workers Union protested against the decision and urged the Labour Ministry to intervene to ward off unrest among the staff</span>.
