<span style="font-weight: bold">A Mexican national employed to a hotel in Rose Hall, Montego Bay, St James,</span> is to answer to a charge of rape in the city's Resident Magistrate's Court today.
The Montego Bay police confirmed late yesterday evening that they have arrested and <span style="font-weight: bold">charged 28-year-old Ruben Sanchez with rape, allegedly committed against a teenage trainee employed to the hotel. </span>
Reports are that the teenager was at work on Sunday when she was raped. Police were reluctant to give details surrounding the matter but confirmed that a report was lodged against Sanchez at the Freeport Police Station.
According to a source, the trainee was seen crying and became withdrawn some time after she turned up for work on Sunday. Further investigations led to her revealing that she had been raped. A report was made to the Freeport Police Station and Sanchez was arrested and charged.
Contacted for a comment last evening, a duty manager at the hotel said he was not permitted to speak to the press on the matter. He said the managing director was the person dealing with the matter. Up to press time, the managing director did not return a call to THE STAR.
