seems him get the stimilus bill to pass, but NOT A SINGLE republican vote.

My take?
Them show dem true colours. They would prefer to see the country go down than to support the success of his presidency.

They all lined up to vote for Bush's bills over and over again. But as soon as Obama present his in time of dire need, they show their true disdain.

Mi know nuff ago seh, "it because a whey Bush did on the TARP"
yeah right.
Obama's plan provided total transparency, unlile the TARP.

A hope Obama wasnt too dissapointed still.. Teck it as learning..Mi assume him know seh a suh some people tan.

In &quot;bi-partisanship&quot; there is the presumption that republicans are ready to put the interest of the country ahead of their narrow, worn out orthodoxies, that they are prepared to be civil, that they actually have ideas worth listening to. This is not the case.

What are their talking points? low taxes, no deficit spending - pickney behavior in response to the harsh realities facing the country. The problem is that moderates are a dying breed in the republican party as it becomes more a right-wing party. Bi-partisanship is an alien concept to them.

In the Senate, there are a few reasonable republicans though they don't have a fillibuster-proof majority. Assuming Al Franken gets the seat in Minnesota, bringing the dems to 59, they should encourage at least one defection from the repubs - something like what happened in 2001 when Jim Jeffords of Vermond defected. I'd say they target Olympia Snowe and Suzan Collins, two moderate (almost liberal?) republicans.

Bipartisanship works when there are reasonable people on both sides. Republicans, especially those in the House, choose obstructionism and stupidity as their MO. Funny thing is: Obama may have to abandon 'bipartisanship' and ram his agenda through Congress in the interest of the country.

Not necessarily so, that is the beauty of America they can voice their opposition without malice. The question is, without the stimulus package, then what?

I don't think they were against a package as much as it was a matter of the amount and how it would be spent...
